When you look at me (Revised)

I’ve tweaked it slightly. please let me know what you think 🙂

When you look at me;

When you look at me,

What do you see?

See a girl that’s far from home,

Grieving for the life that’s been

Married now but feels alone

When you look at me,

What do you see?

A body that looks more old

Than the few years known to her

Looking back at dreams she holds

When you look at me,

What do you see?

Do you see the grieving loss?

A future I had mapped before me

Now reduced to ‘had’ and ‘was’

When you look at me,

What do you see?

See someone that grips to life

Or someone that is held by duty

Knowing that to stay is right.

When I look at me,

This is what I see;

I see a shadowy, wraith like ghost

Who keeps on living; not knowing,

All life is lost.
